Director of Paid Media

The Director of Paid Media at BuzzShift is responsible for leading client paid media programs towards stated client and company objectives and is responsible for the growth, management, retention, and satisfaction of these accounts. The Director of Paid Media will be accountable to partner with clients to address measured media landscape and work with client stakeholders across multiple digital disciplines to propose and defend media spend across all performance-based marketing channels. 

The Director of Paid Media will manage and direct a team of Paid Media Managers and Paid Media Specialists in this task and be accountable for maintaining accurate program forecasts and hitting stated revenue and sales goals. Proven account management and team leadership experience are essential, along with deep experience in online marketing and digital media.

Role Objectives:

Account Management

  • Develops, manages, and monitors client P&L’s, ROAS, KPIs for assigned accounts
  • Implement holistic media planning and buying strategies
  • Introduces process development input, quality assurance and best practices input
  • Interfaces with other department heads to share ideas, communicate service offerings, and to identify and deliver new solutions and opportunities for clients
  • Keeps senior management apprised of key client opportunities, potential risks, and other key nuances which affect the health of the business
  • Prepares and presents annual financial plans and human resources plans

Performance Media and Client leadership

  • Develops and fosters account relationship, working towards 100% account retention 
  • Develops a complete understanding of each client goals, markets, needs, and expectations of BuzzShift
  • Works within client relationships to champion initiatives that drive marketing decisions across digital channels

  • Attends client meetings on ongoing basis, interface as needed with executive level and middle management on client side during meetings and presentations
  • Advocates across functional areas within client relationships (e.g. IT professionals, marketing/product managers, C-level executives) to develop rapport and deliver complex solutions
  • Communicates and implements a participation planning process on all accounts
  • Independently leads performance and go-to market strategy presentations
  • Solves client problems and uses conflict management skills within a professional environment
  • Manages strategy development and execution for complex marketing analysis disciplines, such as segmentation, attitudinal/motivational analysis, concept/copy testing, sales forecasting, response prediction, advertising effectiveness, consumer profiling, customer profitability analysis (lifetime value), media mix modelling, conversion attribution analysis and ROI measurement
  • Leverages 3rd party and syndicated digital research to benchmark trends and/or manage expectations of forecasted trends
  • Works with BuzzShift Insights team closely to make informed holistic observations and recommendations.

  • Conducts performance reviews and career path plans for direct reports
  • Establishes expectations and goals for team on performance marketing thought leadership
  • Provide cross media planning training for their direct reports

Process Improvement

  • Facilitates the development and documentation of best practices and frameworks to improve operational efficiencies within the team and the group
  • Contributes to BuzzShift blog, newsletter, social media, and training tools


  • Understands and explains the features and benefits of all products and services
  • Cross-sells products and services to grow BuzzShift share of marketing spend


  • Bachelor’s Degree required concentration in business, finance, marketing, or advertising preferred
  • 5-7 years of account management experience in online/digital advertising with a focus on paid social media
  • 5+ years of experience in interactive marketing or business consulting using data and information to drive specific targeting and marketing recommendations
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success in managing and leading people
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Google, Tiktok, Pinterest, Youtube, and Twitter 
  • Deep knowledge of programmatic platforms such as StackAdapt, TradeDesk, etc
  • High competency level in Keynote and Google Apps with specific strengths in Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and testing methodology preferred
  • Multichannel experience (search/social/display/programmatic) preferred
